Leefield Station Surpreme Champion

Monty & Sons Radiatori Pasta

A Wairarapa couple’s desire to make “honest” food has been recognised, with Monty & Sons Radiatori Pasta named the Outstanding Food Producer Awards (OFPA) Leefield Station Supreme Champion 2026. The award was presented in Auckland in front of nearly 200 guests at the OFPA Champions Party.

Awards Head Judge Peter Gordon said; “In choosing Monty & Sons Radiatori as the Leefield Station Supreme Champion, it all came down to something simple – how it tasted.” praising the pasta’s nuttiness, light chew and digestibility. The pasta also won the Farro Earth Champion title, with judges praising its texture, bite and ability to hold sauce.

Founded by Monty and Jess Petrie in South Wairarapa, the company was born from Monty’s frustration with industrial farming and a desire to provide better food for their two sons while helping New Zealanders access top local produce. Closely linked to the Wairarapa Grains Collective, the business uses ancient durum wheat proven to thrive in the region’s hot, dry summers. After starting as a boutique supplier to subscription boxes and refilleries, Monty & Sons expanded this year into Moore Wilson's, Farro and specialty retailers nationwide, while maintaining slow traditional methods using bronze extruders and air-drying pasta for up to 24 hours.
