Moreish Beef Sliders with Port Larder Ceylon Sauce

Glasshouse Executive Chef and Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards judge, James Wilkinson created this outstanding beef slider to showcase winners from the 2023 Awards. It was enjoyed at the Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards Champions Party and can be easily made at home. We reckon it will taste all the better if made with beef mince from Giesen Paddock Champion Moreish and Gold Medal winning Port Larder Ceylon Sauce.

 Makes 6

350g Moreish Organic Premium Beef Mince

salt and freshly ground black pepper

3 tasty cheese slices, cut into quarters

6 bread sliders, small hamburger buns or dinner rolls, cut in half

Port Larder Ceylon Sauce, for spreading

6 green leaves, such as baby spinach or rocket

1 ripe tomato, cut into thin slices

½ small red onion, cut into very thin slices

Heat a char grill, barbecue grill or hot plate to a high heat.

Put the Moreish Organic Premium Beef Mince in a bowl and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix to combine then shape in 6 patties.

Lightly oil the grill or hot plate and put on the beef patties. Grill for 2-3 minutes on each side, depending on their thickness. Pop 2 pieces of the cheese on each patty just after turning so the cheese begins to melt a little.

Toast the cut sides of each slider. Spread the base of each slider with a little Port Larder Ceylon Sauce then top each with a leafy green, a tomato slice and a cheesy patty. Arrange the onion and on top. Spread the top of each slider with a little extra Port Larder Ceylon Sauce, if wished and put on top to finish the sliders.

Grab a napkin and enjoy straightaway!
